Recently, I was introduced to Oil Pulling, an ancient age old Ayurveda process. The effects are said to help with oral care, teeth whitening, clearer skin, headaches, and sinus’s. Some believe it can help with many more ailments such as; bronchitis, tooth pain, eczema, ulcers, and diseases of stomach, intestines, heart, blood, kidney, liver, lungs and women’s diseases. Most of all oil pulling is designed to pull out toxic waste and bacteria in the body, which lives in your mouth. (gross, right?!)
In the morning before you brush your teeth or drink water, place a teaspoon of cold-pressed oil in the mouth. I like organic coconut oil, but what is recommended most is sesame or sunflower oil. Once you place oil in the mouth, swish around for 10-20 minutes. When finished, spit out the oil in a napkin or cup and dispose. Its important not to spit out in sink, as it will clog the drain. Simple enough, right?!
